Frequently Asked Questions

No, the test is only able to determine the number of sperm present.

SnipCheck is designed to be used post-vasectomy. In cases where there are no sperm, it is not necessary to test for motility. In cases where sperm are present, you will be sent an additional test at no charge and will be recommended to ejaculate at least 10-20 times before retesting. If sperm continue to be present on the repeat test, then we would recommend that you have a formal test be obtained locally in a laboratory to assess for motility. Your results should always be discussed with your healthcare provider directly. You should never discontinue secondary contraceptive measures until you have been instructed to do so by your medical provider.

The time spent in shipping does not impact sperm concentration. Even in cases where sperm is stored for months, the concentration is consistent over time. Since this test is only assessing for sperm concentration, shipping time does not impact the reliability of results. If we do see any sperm on the test, we will send another sample to you at no cost. If this continues to show sperm, then we will recommend that you have a local semen analysis obtained to evaluate for motility.

Yes, the American Urological Association has released guidelines on post-vasectomy testing. In general, a test showing no sperm or very small numbers of non-swimming sperm (<100,000/mL) is consistent with a successful vasectomy. If any sperm are seen with the SnipCheck test, a repeat test will be sent to you at no charge. If this repeat test continues to show sperm, we would recommend that you obtain a formal test at a laboratory near your home. In some cases, you will just need to ejaculate additional times before the test shows no sperm. But in other cases, it may mean that a repeat vasectomy may be required. It is important to never discontinue secondary contraceptive measures until instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.

If you received the test from your healthcare provider, they will be sent your results via fax. If you ordered your SnipCheck test online and provided your healthcare provider’s fax number, they will also receive the information. Otherwise, you may need to provide your results directly to your healthcare provider.

If you collected the specimen as instructed, the test will be an accurate representation of your sperm counts at the time of collection. Each test is evaluated individually by hand and does not rely on computer-aided semen analysis technologies, which often have variable accuracy.

Once we receive your sample, it will be processed within 1-2 business days. You will receive your result via the email you provided at the time of your submission.

Yes, depending on which specific test you are using, the tracking information will either be included in your package or in an email attachment at the time of
checkout. You will receive tracking information so that you can track where your package is located.
